UGC NET Examinations January 2017: Details for Candidates

Applications are invited for University Grants Commission organized Net/Junior research fellowship (JRF) examinations on humanities subjects ( Humanities, Social Science, Computer science and application, Electronic science, languages.....). Submit the application via online. Apply for lectureship and J.R.F or only for lectureship.

Economics, political science, philosophy, psychology, sociology, history, anthropology, commerce, education, social work, defense and strategic studies, home science, public administration, population studies, Hindustani music (vocal/instrumental), management, Mythili, Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Arabic, English, linguistics, Chinese, Dogri, Nepali, Manipuri, Assamese, Gujarati, Marathi, french, Spanish, Russian, Persian, Rajastani, German, Japaneses, adult education/continuing education/Andragogi/non formal education, physical education, Arab culture and Islamic studies, Indian culture, labor Welfare/personal management/industrial relations/labor social welfare/human resource management, law, library and information science, Buddhist jaina, Gandhian and piece studies, comparative study of religious, mass communication and journalism, dance, Musiology and conservation, archaeology, criminology, tribal and regional language/literature, folk literature, comparative literature, Sanskrit traditional subjects, woman studies, visual arts, Geography, social medicine and community health, forensic science, Pali, Kashmiri, Konkani, computer science and applications, electronic science, environmental science, international and Area studies, Prakrit, human rights and duties, tourism administration and management, Bodo, Santali, Carnatic music (vocal instrument, percussion), Rabindra Sangit, instruments, drama and theater, yoga.

Qualification for UGC NET Exam:

  • A Post Graduation degree in concerned subject with not less than 55 % marks. 
  • 50 % marks for OBC/SC/ST candidates.
  • Last year students can also apply. They must pass the PG course within 2 years after clearing the NET examination. 
  • 5% mark reservation for the PhD candidates who passed the Master's degree before 1991 September 19. 
  • The candidates can get exception from NET exam who had passed the UGC recognized SET exam ( not Kerala SET).
Age Bar for Applying for NET Exam of UGC:
  • There is no age limit for lectureship.
  • It is for the candidates who applied for JRF is 28 years.
  • Age will consider based on January 1, 2017. 
  • 5 Years reservation for women, SC/ST and OBC candidates. 
  • The candidates who have experience in research and those who passed LLM can get legal reservation on age to apply for JRF/ NET. 
Way of NET Examination and Exam time:
  • There are 3 papers.
  1. Examination Time:
  2. First paper- morning- 9.30- 10.45 am
  3. Second paper- 11.15- 12.30 
  4. Third paper- 2.00 pm- 4.30 pm.
  • Marks for each paper:
100 marks for first 2 papers and 150 for the third paper. 

There are 90 examination centers for Net exam. In Kerala those are in Trivandrum, Cochin and Calicut.

UGC NET Exam Fee:

600 Rs for General Candidates
300 for OBC candidates
150 Rs for SC/ ST candidates. 

Applicants can pay the fee in Canara bank/ Syndiacte bank/ ICICI/ HDFC through receipt or credit/ debit cards. 

How to apply for UGC NET/ JRF Exam:
  • Submit your application through online from October 17.
  • After it you can pay the fee. Details are in UGC official website. 
  • Last date to apply is November 16, 2016.
